TOURNAMNET PROCEDURES

Score sheets must be correctly completed. i.e. Match result completed and returned to the controllers desk.

1.
All games will be played to normal FIVB rules – except for any VNZ Amendments.  Any matters that arise outside the official FIVB rules, these tournament procedures or the School Sport NZ rules will be dealt with by the Tournament Director or Chief Referee whose decision is final. The event will be Smoke, Drug and Alcohol free.

Matches start on time unless waiting for a match to finish.  Duty Teams please ensure you start a match on time - it is the duty team’s responsibility to get the net time started within the appropriate time.  If you have just finished your match please appoint somebody get the net time started on time.

All teams have minimum 3 minutes warm up together on the court prior to referee taking the toss and then the net warm up of 3 minutes each (depends on length of match).  Please note if the event is running late these guidelines may change

Matches are either - rally point best of 3 sets (25, 25, 25) or rally point best of 5 sets (25, 25, 25, 25, 15)

Defaults – 6 players must be present at the start of the match otherwise the incomplete team will incur a default.  Teams must have a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 12. Referee will still start net time even if there are less then 6 players. Players may only play for one team in the event. Teams that default a game or a duty will be fined $25 per event.

Match Points shall be allocated as follows for 5 set matches:
Match won 3-0; 3-1 3 points
Match won 3-2 2 points
Match lost 2-3 1 point
Match lost 0-3; 1-3 0 point
Match forfeited 0 points (25-0;25-0;25-0)

Match Points shall be allocated as follows for 3 set matches::    2 pts for a win, 1 pt for a loss, 0 pts for a default

Ties are separated by: for 5 set Matches   

Number of Victories = In case of equality of ranking points gained by two or more teams, they will be classified in descending order by the number of matches won.
Set quotient = In the case of equality in the number of matches won by two or several teams, they will be classified in descending order by the quotient resulting from the division of the number of all sets won by the number of all sets lost
Points quotient = If the tie persists as per the set quotient the teams will be classified in descending order by the quotient resulting from the division of all points scored by the total of points lost during all sets.
If the tie continues as per the point quotient between two teams, the priority will be given to the team which won the last match between them.
When the tie in point quotient is between three or more teams, a new classification of these teams in the terms of the above three tie-breakers will be made taking into consideration only the matches in which they were opposed to each other

Ties are separated by: for 3 set Matches   
1) Set ratio from all games
2) Point ratio from all games
3) If two teams are still tied then they will be separated by the result of the game between them.

Team Uniform – All teams are to play in team uniform.  This uniform shall include numbered tops front and back and shorts of a uniform colour. Team members who are not in team uniform will not be allowed participate in the match. The Captain should be clearly identified with a strip on their playing shirt. Temporary taping of Shirt Numbers is not allowed. Shirts must be numbered between 1 and 99

All players, coaches, assistant coaches and mangers are to be entered onto the score sheet prior to the game starting.  The coach and captain must also sign the score sheet before the match starts and the captain also signs it after the match finishes.

Protests:  Protest Fee is $50 which must be presented with the protest. It will be returned if your protest is upheld. Protests will be dealt to immediately. The team captain must indicate this to the 1st referee that they wish to protest. The match will be frozen and the chief referee or controller at your tournament venue will adjudicate.

Behaviour – Players who demonstrate poor sportsmanship during matches will be subject to the Sanction Penalties contained in the official rules of volleyball.  Any other matter that are not covered by the official rules and at the request of participating schools will be dealt with by the Disputes Committee (Tournament Director and 2 others). The outcome of their decision is final.

Refereeing and Duties – Each team to provide a 1st Referee and 2nd Referee, two lines people and 2 scorers.  Teams must provide their own whistles (Health and Safety issue).
14.
Duty Procedures - Duty teams will need to pick up the "Duty Box" when they are to do a duty and return it to the court controllers desk straight after the match. Failure to return the match ball will mean the duty team is charged for it.

Coaches and/or Managers must check the Daily Information Notice board or website for any changes to the draw and are responsible for determining their post section responsibilities

All teams must be prepared to participate in the first match of the event. Teams must do all duties and play in all matches as per the tournament draw.
17.
Students who have outstanding debts to Canterbury Volleyball Association will not be able to participate until they are cleared
